5,000 Purses Project – Winter 2015

The UIC Women’s Leadership and Resource Center invites you to join them for a collection drive for the 5000 Purses Project to benefit Sarah’s Circle, a non-profit agency with a mission of serving women who are homeless or in need of a safe space. Located in Chicago’s Uptown community, Sarah’s Circle has provided support for thousands of women over the course of our 35 year history.

Bring your gently used purses, backpacks, or tote bags filled with supplies — hygiene products, toiletries, non-perishable snacks and items to use in cold weather. These bags will be donated to women who are facing homelessness.

You can drop off your filled donation bags to WLRC at 728 W Roosevelt Road (please see directions below) through NOON, on Friday December 18th. DIRECTIONS:
The Women’s Leadership & Resource Center/Campus Advocacy Network is located at 728 W. Roosevelt Road. In order to get to our space, enter through Parking Lot 6 off Halsted (east side), just north of Roosevelt. Our entrance is towards the very back of the lot and is indicated by a sign. You may enter through the door on the right (stairs) or the door on the left (elevator). We are located on the second floor. Please pick up the red phone to notify us of your arrival and to be buzzed in. Our building is wheelchair accessible. If you will be driving to drop off your donations, please call us in advance at 312.413.1025 to make arrangements for entry into the parking lot.
