|Historical Trauma Among Native Americans
Implications for a Narrative Approach to Healing
Tuesday, April 14
1:00 - 2:30 PM
WLRC/CAN Programming Room, 728 W. Roosevelt Road, Parking Lot Entrance
Native Americans struggle with disproportionate rates of mental health and societal concerns, conceptualized as the outcome of historical trauma. Attempts to heal this trauma have been proven ineffective when using Euro-American mental health treatments. Through her research, Dr. Ryan found that a hybrid between traditional Native American storytelling and contemporary narrative therapy approaches might reflect a viable culturally sensitive and competent healing approach for this community.
Lunch will be served.
