HEALS: Surviving & Thriving in the Classroom

HEALS: Healing for Engagement, Action, & Leadership by Survivors

October 14, 2025

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location

Zoom

Three students helping each other climb up a stack of books. Above them are details about the HEALS: Surviving & Thriving in the Classroom program in white text inside a purple and blue gradient rectangle, which is on a magenta and pink gradient background.

What are the challenges of moving through classes and work as a survivor of sexual or domestic violence? What forms of support and accommodations do you need in the classroom, and how can you access them? We will leave the session with concrete strategies and goals for the second half of the semester.

UIC undergraduate, graduate, and professional student survivors and allies are welcome!

Co-sponsored by Commuter and Off-Campus Life.

Please contact us with any questions or access requests: can@uic.edu or (312) 413-8206.

About the HEALS program:

Are you interested in building connections, healing, and working towards justice with survivors at UIC?

We invite you to HEALS: Healing for Engagement, Action, & Leadership by Survivors, a drop-in gathering space for UIC students who have experienced gender-based violence (domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, harassment, stalking, and family abuse) and those who support them.
