Location

Address

UIC Women's Leadership and Resource Center, 1101 W. Taylor St., Suite 310, Chicago, IL 60607

These past two weeks have been difficult for our UIC community since the murder of one of our fellow students, Ruth George, which occurred only two days before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. We will be holding this student-centered space for the UIC community to remember Ruth's life, mourn her loss, and discuss how to create true safety on our campus.

Our event includes an open sharing session, critical reflections, and discussions of how to move forward together. UIC students, staff, faculty, and community members are all welcome to attend. Let’s turn our frustration, anger, and outrage into actions. Let’s demand a safer campus for all.

For questions about this event, email UIC Students for a Democratic Society at UIChicagoSDS@gmail.com.

Co-organized by the following UIC departments and student organizations: Women's Leadership and Resource Center, Anakbayan, Students for a Democratic Society, Chi Sigma Omega, Eco-Educators, Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, and Global Asian Studies.

WLRC's suite is wheelchair-accessible and includes an accessible, all-gender restroom. The building has an elevator to reach the third floor. The front entrance to the building requires using a buzzer that is above many wheelchair heights. Please feel free to call us at (312) 413-1025 when you arrive for assistance with the front door. Please call or email us at adacheng@uic.edu a few days in advance for any other accommodation requests.
