Promotional poster: A headshot of Stephanie Skora. Behind her is a collage of images depicting various types of civic engagement, such as voting, packing food donations, canvassing, participating in demonstrations. On top of and below the images is text describing the Civic Engagement for Social Justice event (same info on this page).

What does civic engagement for social justice mean? And for Stephanie Skora, what does it mean to be a leftist Jew engaged in this work? These questions have been swirling across the progressive landscape since October 2023 as the United States descends into the turmoil of yet another contentious presidential election. From voting, to watchdog research, to protesting against a genocide, this talk examines civic engagement from a progressive lens, and paints a portrait of what change-making looks like on a local level.
